The first Split Rock event was the August 27th, 2024 inaugural swim. Six swimmers and Whipple’s dog, Nellie, entered the water at South Ferry Hills Beach and six swimmers and Nellie made it to Split Rock (Chip and Lynne Whipple, Paul Hudon, Mary Droser, Liza Casey and David Lichtenstein) They were accompanied by one skiff (Peter Dzaugis and Steve Sanders), three kayaks (Jill Moser, Andy Dzaugis, Ann Biddlecom and Monique De Groot), a paddle boarder (Richard Ruscica for a while anyway) and a walker (Carolyn Droser).
