Updates on the Bridge Repair Project
February 2026 – Since September SFHA raised $61,850 towards our goal of $90,000! This is from individual donations by 20 members (some in pledges not yet received) along with $10,000 from the Association’s savings. Before we could complete our fund raising effort, the mason with whom we worked for months on specifications for the repair process, including the construction of prototype balusters, informed us he would no longer be available for work this spring. (He got an offer for a fulltime job.) The SFHA Board recognized this as a huge setback.
The Board met on January 11, 2026, to address the situation and arrived at the following resolutions:
**To postpone any repair until Spring of 2027. According to our engineer’s reports, the bridge is structurally sound so this will not incur a significant risk.
**Use the time to research skilled masons in our area, who can do the required work in both an aesthetically and structurally sound manner.
**Use the time to continue fund raising and to once again look outside of SFHA for Foundation Grants using
the funds that we have now collected as the basis for matching funds.
